We’re after people to help provide feedback on current X-Series services and provide input into future ones. To qualify, you simply need to be an existing X-Series customer and have a desire to help us shape the future of the mobile internet ... wow, sounds a bit like a job ad!
There’s no money involved … hmm, not a job ad after all ;-) … but you will get to put new software and services through their paces and chat with us from time to time about what you think of them.
If you’re based in London or thereabouts, you’ll be invited to our offices every so often (no more than two or three times a year at a time that suits you). If you’re not in London we still want your help and you’ll become part of a virtual team of beta testers/panelists.
To apply just send us 20-50 words on why you want to help shape the mobile internet. Send it via email to blog.xseries@three.com or reply to this post now. We’ll get in touch if you’re successful.

We've had an amazing response so far to the request for beta testers (all via email!). Pls. keep the requests coming. We're not deciding who until later in the week (it will be quite a few) so let me know if you're interested.
Cheers

i think i could be quite useful, i've had a 3G phone since they were released in the UK, had smartphones and am now using X-Series. I've had an awful lot of problems with some of the apps - Mobile Mail in particular - as someone with a software engineering degree they don't seem to be very robust or well designed. Proper testing before release would have helped I'm sure. As would documentation.

I believe that I could be useful as I have been purchasing mobile phones since 1986 and help others make decisions on which phone and provider to take. You could say I am a mobile phone whiz.

I'd love to be a part of it. I've been in and around the IT industry for a decade, and love mobile technology. But more importantly, I like putting it to use.
I've just ordered an E65 from Three Australia with XSeries (check it out, UK people - very different industry over here!), it'll arrive on Monday! I'm stoked!

Ok, I've been guilty of slating 3 recently for the lack of info on the W950i, but that's only because I want this technology so much. I'm delighted at todays news and would truly love the opportunity at helping shape the future of x-series.

I'd love to be one of the testers now, please! :D

Hello
I am a 19 year old Pakistani that has just moved to melbourne Australia. You may notice that the link i posted as my URL is not an active blog now since i had to stop. I am a smartphone enthusiast and have done countless things I have written reviews for 3rd party applications for symbian phones, blogged alot about Nokia and other phones, am an active member of symbian-based forums and other websites. I have really wanted to be part of an international mobile team so i can experience the mobile world of today, this is the first time that i have even had a 3G signal on my Nokia N80i. I read about the X series when it was announced and was very excited to be able to use it in Australia. I beleive i can be a key member of your testing team. Please consider me, i know this isnt a paid job but i know you want dedicated people who would do it for the fun of it and i can assure you i am one of those.
Regards

Would you consider me to be part of it if it still open for applicants ?
I have been testing a few of the mobile technologies and recently incorporating these technologies with my web projects . Thanks and have a nice day to all the geeks out there :)

I love mobile technology and actually sell many myself.
I had to crack open a Nokia N95 and get the x-series working (although 3 in Australia didn't want me to as they aren't selling it yet:)So far I can use Google instant messaging,Orb (which is fantastic)Skype, all emails forwarded to 3 email which is pushed every 15 min and other services.Found a few glitches in the phone but I'm sure new firmware will fix it.Don't have too match time on my hands but I'm sure I can help out a little.I hate it when people say I cant do something on the phone or service as I am prepared to spend all day to prove them wrong (my stubborn streak)

Why isn't the e61 available on the Australian Three Xseries network - when it is on the UK network?
The answer I got from Three Aus was...Ummm...dunno...it won't work if you bring it from the UK to here.
I am a blackberry user now and would be an ideal candidate to switch over to Xseries - but I need a decent handset to write emails (isn't that a major point of Xseries? to be an internet device? and isn't email the #1 internet app?)
The only handsets available with keyboards is the Treo - and that isn't suitable for me - as I want a Nokia phone so I can use it with the service of fring.com.
Care to comment?
Maybe you UK folks can push the folks down under to get their act together?
As fas as I can tell, this has always been the downfall of Three - the lack of handset diversity. Things are much better now than in the past, but things like this still linger.
I'm ready to switch over to Three - help me get there!
I know I've posted this in the wrong place - but thought I'd have a rant. Feel free to delete this post.

Hey Bob,
This is the right place to post this question (but always contact the Australia folk too) and it's def. the right place for a rant if you feel like it (although we like compliments too!).
I'll shoot your email off to our Australian colleagues and see if I can't wrestle an answer out of them on this one.
cheers

Thans De,
Yes - I have spoken with Three - a number of times on the phone + a few times in the local shop.
Hey, whilst you're at it...push them on their rates too! We'd *love* to get the same data rate charges you offer in the UK (for all things internet here we are overcharged)...the usual story is we have a large continent/small population yada yada...
Many Thanks for the quick reply.
What I had thought was to get an e61 UK Three phone and bring it here to Aus...maybe that's what you could confirm? Will this work as an Xseries phone on the Aus Three network.

Ok - so I've become a customer - and so far, quite happy. I went with the Dopod.
It has some nice features.
I'm a newbie to Three so please tell I'm wrong. Is it true that the polling interval between the Three mail server to my pop (external) mail has a minimum of 1 hour?
Please tell me I'm wrong.
Is there any way around this?
How can I get mail stored on my Pop server any quicker than this?
I still have my blackberry - and was about to dump it completely for Three/dopod - but...maybe if this can't be resolved - I'll have to hang onto it.

Ahh - OK - re: last post...
Perhaps if I forward my external mail to my three email address, I can get around the polling issue altogether...
Sorry for the rash post.
